Here are the 10 finalists of the Brain UC program!

The scientific-technological contest Brain UC, which is co-organized by Engineering UC, the UC Innovation Center and the Direction for Development and Transfer, already selected 10 finalists. The groups of the 30 semi-finalist projects presented their progress in the prototype and business model and a work plan for the final stage. Engineering 2030 has been internationally distinguished

The monthly issue of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) magazine PRISM — the most important american magazine in the field of engineering education— highlighted Engineering 2030 in the “Ground Shift” article, by Thomas K. Grose. Grose interviewed the Dean of Engineering UC Juan Carlos de la Llera, executives of Corfo and other authorities, asking their opinion on how to improve engineering education in order to promote the effort towards a more developed country. The author also highlights some of the initiatives promoted by Engineering UC within the framework of 2030, including the creation of the Direction of Engineering Education, and activities focused on promoting an ecosystem of entrepreneurship among teachers and students. The Clover 2030 project management teams of the consortium had its second meeting of 2015

Last week, the project management teams of the Consortium had its second meeting of the year to show progress in the work of each pillar. “This meeting was positive for both teams, there was harmony and good communication. We promote more activities together”, says Professor Pedro Bouchon, Academic Director of the project @ Engineering UC, who also was responsible for making a presentation of the development of bilateral and independent work, in order to delivery the second progress report of the plan to Corfo this month. Ken Singer @ Engineering UC

Ken Singer was part of the Faculty Team of the NEW COURSE “RESEARCH, INNOVATION, AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP”, LAUNCHED ON MARCH 2015 Ken Singer, distinguished entrepreneur and Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Technology (CET) at University of California, Berkeley, visited the School of Engineering UC and joined diverse activities related to entrepreneurship and innovation. The new course “Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship”, developed in collaboration with CET at Berkeley University, was launched on march 2015. The ceremony counted with numerous academics including Ken Singer, Nicolás Shea, Alfonso Cruz, Jorge Sanz-Guerrero, and César Sáez. Carolina Arce, David Law, and Ricardo San Martín, who will coordinate the logistics of the course in California were also present in the event. Dean de la Llera opened the first class of the course with the following words: “One of the hardest activities that one can do in life is to be an entrepreneur. It is complicated and frustrating, but suddenly you see that light that makes everything worth the effort. This is going to be the hardest course in the School, by far.
