The main goal of the Double Degree Program is to
PROVIDE AN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION OF EXCELLENCE SO ENGINEERS OF DIFFERENT AREAS CAN BE FULLY PREPARED FOR THE WORLD OF TOMORROW
The Double Degree Program at Engineering UC consists on giving students the chance of studying in Chile and abroad, obtaining an Engineering Degree from both countries. “The main goal of the program is to provide an international education of excellence so engineers of different areas can be fully prepared for the World of tomorrow; with an open mind, a broad vision, and a solid knowledge of what is happening internationally”, commented Ricardo Vilches, Sub Director of Student Affairs at Engineering UC.
Since June 2014, the project is being supported by The Student Mobility Scholarship, which covers all travel costs for participating students. This scholarship is part of the Performance Agreement for Curricular Harmonization Program, where UC is launching «The New Civil Engineering: A Pilot Model For International Validation, Interdiscipline, Research and Innovation» (PMI PUC 1202). This agreement seeks to promote a flexible teaching method for the Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Sciences at UC.
In March 2015, the first Double Ph.D. student, Cristina Torres Machí, graduated from both UC and the Polytechnic University of Valencia. Greg Snider, Professor and Director of the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Notre Dame, gave on April 9th of 2015 an informative and motivational lecture for all students interested in pursuing a double doctorate in this university.
