The Vice-Dean of the School of Engineering at PUC and visiting professor at MIT Sloan School of Management, Juan Carlos Ferrer, presented last November 19th “Engineering 2030: the transformation of engineering in Chile and its role in the country’s development”, at the meeting Breakfast Series organized by the MIT Chile Club.

This activity took place some years ago, seeking to find speakers linked to MIT and Chile, to discuss topics of interest for about an hour.

The meeting was attended by 20 Chilean students who are doing their postgraduate courses at MIT: “I presented the Engineering 2030 project as a national initiative and told them what we are doing from the UC to push this challenge. The reception was very good, there was interest in knowing more about what we are doing to transform engineering education and learning”, says Ferrer.

Meanwhile Sebastián Luque, Fellow of System Design and Management at MIT, said: “It was a very good presentation and conversation. Congratulations for what you are doing, I think it is very good for the country”.

Graduate students asked questions and made some comments about the new Engineering UC curriculum, the Talent and Inclusion program, how to encourage innovation and entrepreneurship, the importance of obtaining and consider the feedback that alumni can give, among others.
